Our mission is to help individuals cope with the trials of daily living through the use of scripture prayer and counseling; to meet the needs of our church and the community by providing spiritual guidance, support, and referrals when necessary; to better equip our brothers and sisters to cope with and improve the quality of their lives.

The purpose and ultimate goal of the Union Baptist Church Department of Christian Education is to make disciples for Christ, consistent with Matthew 28:19-20, and help the members of UBC, old and new, to grow towards spiritual maturity. It is our goal and desire that through the teaching ministry all members of UBC will --

1) Be better equipped to win souls for Christ
2) Come to know God, love God, love the word of God, love the things of God and the people of God better
3) Be progressively conformed to the image of Christ

Because our aim is to reach members and non-members alike and to develop the total person — spirit, mind, and body — we will accomplish these goals by providing a variety of study and growth opportunities. These include consistent Bible study, Sunday school for adults and children, children’s church for children between the ages of 4 and 12, teen church for teens between the ages of 13 and 18, and beneficial seminars and workshops, both Christian and secular.

The Deacons and Deaconess Ministries, under the Spiritual guidance and direction of the Pastor, work to serve the community of faith at Union Baptist Church.

The Deacons are available to anyone who has a need, whether it be a hospital, nursing home or home visit for the sick and shut-in, prayer, the serving of Communion, etc.

Through training, prayer and Bible Study, the Deaconess Ministry promotes unity and fellowship within the Body of Christ; prepares and serves the Lord’s Supper; attends to the sick and shut-in; assists with Baptism; and provides outreach to those in need within the Church and the community.

Members of the Deacons and Deaconess Ministries are appointed by Pastor Williams.

As concerned Christians, we serve to end Domestic Violence through education and awareness of the problem as it persists in our community. Knowledge is power.

We strongly believe that every victim should be aware of their options in order to make fully informed decisions. Therefore, the Domestic Violence Liaisons have been trained to guide victims toward organizations such as “My Sister’s Place” that advocates ending domestic violence. We follow the victim’s lead because their safety is always our primary concern.

The F.L.Y. Life Young Adult Ministry at Union Baptist Church is focused on uniting young adults ages 18-35 to grow as Christians and to share their love of Jesus Christ. F.L.Y. Life aims to create a safe space for young adults to faithfully live their lives though Bible chats, game nights, fellowship opportunities, community service events, and by creating intergenerational ties throughout the Greenburgh/White Plains community and beyond.

The purpose of the Union Baptist Church Flower Ministry is to beautify the sanctuary throughout the year with fresh flowers and plants, highlighting the seasons of the birth and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. This is done by accommodating members of our church family and others wishing to place flowers in the sanctuary in memory of a loved one or for special occasions. Members of the Flower Ministry share in the responsibility of caring for and distribution of altar flowers, and decorating the Church for Resurrection Sunday and Christmas. Ministry meetings are held at least three times a year. Flowers may be ordered through the Union Baptist Church website GIVING menu.

All members of Union Baptist Church are invited to join this ministry.

To feed and clothe as many people as we can in this community in a wholesome and Christian environment.

To introduce them to or re-acquaint them with Christ by sharing the quarterly Daily Bread and Bibles upon request. We also share uplifting conversation and material by leaving information in sight so that anyone who wishes to receive information, can freely take it and share with others.

The purpose of the Health & Fitness Ministry is to fellowship with other female parishioners, as well as other women in the community, to provide an environment which promotes better health habits and awareness.  We envision this ministry to be inclusive but not limited to nutritional seminars, aerobic exercise, meditation, and yoga.

The Health & Fitness ministry proclaims a Godly commitment and devotion to the congregation by addressing various phases of health and fitness.  We see this ministry as a wholesome benefit to our spiritual and physical lives.

The Health & Wellness Ministry is a multi-diverse service driven ministry.  We provide basic emergent care within the scope of our practice.  We serve our God, Pastor, church and community.  The only prerequisite is that you have a heart to serve God, serve others, dedication, caring, patience, compassion and a genuine love for people.

The purpose of the Union Baptist Church Hospitality Ministry is to provide a warm welcome to visitors and guests, as well as the congregation, when they enter the church. By doing so, we hope visitors will want to return to Union Baptist Church and find spiritual enrichment in order to eventually become disciples for Christ.

Members of the Hospitality Ministry serve once or twice a month on Sundays in the Narthex (church lobby) prior to the 8am or 11am service, and briefly in the Sanctuary at the beginning of service. Hospitality Ministry members distribute a “Welcome” packet to first-time visitors that contains information on the church and a welcome card for the visitor to complete.

Ministry meetings are held quarterly on the 3^rdMonday, in the month of March, June, September, and December.

All members of Union Baptist Church are invited to join the Hospitality Ministry.

The Music and Arts Ministry’s primary responsibility is to lead the weekly worship though music and artistic expressions of dance and dramatic presentations. Because our ministry is Bible-based and led by the flow of the Holy Spirit, members should be comfortable and prepared to serve with scripture, prayer and praise as regular elements of their service. While we need your best talent, we are primarily interested in your ability to “serve the Lord with gladness, and to come before His presence with singing.” Your commitment and cooperation to dwell together in unity is a must as the purpose of our ministry is to break up the fallow ground and to support the spoken Word of God.

The Music and Arts Ministry consists of four musical ensembles: Mass Choir (ages 21 and up), Judah Praise Team (ages 21 and up), One Praise Youth Choir (ages 5 to 17), Next Generation Choir (ages 18-35) and two dance groups: Angels of Praise Adult Ministry (18 and up), Youth Dancers (ages 3 to 17) and the Drama Ministry (all ages).

The Music and Arts ministry is open to all adult members of Union Baptist Church who have completed their new member’s classes and received the Right Hand of Fellowship (specifically for the adult ensembles). It is imperative that you strongly consider your schedules before joining the Music & Arts ministry.

The goal of the New Members Ministry is to welcome all new church members who join, make them feel comfortable and a part of the Union Baptist Church family. The Stephen Ministry works under the guidance of Pastor Williams to confidentially serve and support the Union Baptist Church members and community.  This is done by walking alongside, caring about, encouraging, and provide emotional/spiritual support to people who are going through a difficult time.

Our mission is to:

• To build a Union Baptist Church Stephen Ministry based on a biblically strong foundation.
• To support Pastor William with a team of gifted, trained, and committed lay caregivers ready to minister to hurting people.
• To augment existing ministries by working cooperatively and collaboratively in meeting the needs of God's people
• To build up the universal Body of Christ AND reach unbeliever or unchurched through one-to-one distinctively Christ-Like confidential compassionate care when they are going through challenges and life changing situations.

Women IN God’s Service

All women of Union Baptist Church (UBC) are considered members.

Spiritually equip and enhance the quality of life for women in this community by developing and conducting Bible studies, workshops and programs and missions focused upon unique needs of women of all ages. We will begin developing the framework for a 2013 UBC women’s conference

Cultivate Christian friendships inside and outside the walls of Union Baptist Church by encouraging women to join us in worship and in WINGS sponsored events;

Provide a safe environment where issues can be freely and openly shared and discussed

Provide opportunities for service in workshops and other WINGS sponsored events

Encourage and motivate younger women to participate in WINGS sponsored events

Partner with other UBC Ministries as we seek to win people for Christ
