{"id":3801,"date":"2025-12-31T03:08:24","date_gmt":"2025-12-31T03:08:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unionbaptistwp.org\/?post_type=sermon&#038;p=3801"},"modified":"2025-12-31T03:08:49","modified_gmt":"2025-12-31T03:08:49","slug":"encourage-yourself","status":"publish","type":"sermon","link":"https:\/\/www.unionbaptistwp.org\/staging\/sermon\/encourage-yourself\/","title":{"rendered":"Encourage Yourself"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1 Samuel 30:1-8 | NKJV<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">David\u2019s Conflict with the Amalekites<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>30\u00a0<\/strong>Now it happened, when David and his men came to\u00a0Ziklag, on the third day, that the\u00a0Amalekites had invaded the South and Ziklag, attacked Ziklag and burned it with fire,\u00a0<sup><strong>2<\/strong>\u00a0<\/sup>and had taken captive the\u00a0women and those who\u00a0<em>were<\/em>\u00a0there, from small to great; they did not kill anyone, but carried\u00a0<em>them<\/em>\u00a0away and went their way.\u00a0<sup><strong>3<\/strong>\u00a0<\/sup>So David and his men came to the city, and there it was, burned with fire; and their wives, their sons, and their daughters had been taken captive.\u00a0<sup><strong>4<\/strong>\u00a0<\/sup>Then David and the people who\u00a0<em>were<\/em>\u00a0with him lifted up their voices and wept, until they had no more power to weep.\u00a0<sup><strong>5<\/strong>\u00a0<\/sup>And David\u2019s two\u00a0wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite, had been taken captive.\u00a0<sup><strong>6<\/strong>\u00a0<\/sup>Now David was greatly distressed, for\u00a0the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was\u00a0<sup>[<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1%20Samuel%2030%3A1-8&amp;version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-7985a\">a<\/a>]<\/sup>grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters.\u00a0But David strengthened himself in the\u00a0Lord\u00a0his God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup><strong>7<\/strong>\u00a0<\/sup>Then David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech\u2019s son, \u201cPlease bring the ephod here to me.\u201d And\u00a0Abiathar brought the ephod to David.\u00a0<sup><strong>8<\/strong>\u00a0<\/sup>So David inquired of the\u00a0Lord, saying, \u201cShall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And He answered him, \u201cPursue, for you shall surely overtake&nbsp;<em>them<\/em>&nbsp;and without fail recover&nbsp;<em>all.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":3806,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":true,"inline_featured_image":false},"class_list":["post-3801","sermon","type-sermon","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.8 -
