{"id":3824,"date":"2026-01-14T00:22:13","date_gmt":"2026-01-14T00:22:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unionbaptistwp.org\/?post_type=sermon&#038;p=3824"},"modified":"2026-01-14T00:22:17","modified_gmt":"2026-01-14T00:22:17","slug":"responding-to-gods-goodness","status":"publish","type":"sermon","link":"https:\/\/www.unionbaptistwp.org\/staging\/sermon\/responding-to-gods-goodness\/","title":{"rendered":"Responding to God&#8217;s Goodness"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">John 12:1-8 | NKJV<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Anointing at Bethany<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>12\u00a0<\/strong>Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany,\u00a0where Lazarus was\u00a0<sup>[<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John%2012%3A1-8&amp;version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-26582a\">a<\/a>]<\/sup>who had been dead, whom He had raised from the dead.\u00a0<sup><strong>2<\/strong>\u00a0<\/sup>There they made Him a supper; and Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with Him.\u00a0<sup><strong>3<\/strong>\u00a0<\/sup>Then\u00a0Mary took a pound of very costly oil of\u00a0spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup><strong>4<\/strong>\u00a0<\/sup>But one of His disciples,\u00a0Judas Iscariot, Simon\u2019s\u00a0<em>son,<\/em>\u00a0who would betray Him, said,\u00a0<sup><strong>5<\/strong>\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cWhy was this fragrant oil not sold for\u00a0<sup>[<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John%2012%3A1-8&amp;version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-26586b\">b<\/a>]<\/sup>three hundred denarii and given to the poor?\u201d\u00a0<sup><strong>6<\/strong>\u00a0<\/sup>This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and\u00a0had the money box; and he used to take what was put in it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup><strong>7<\/strong>\u00a0<\/sup>But Jesus said,\u00a0\u201cLet her alone;\u00a0<sup>[<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John%2012%3A1-8&amp;version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-26588c\">c<\/a>]<\/sup>she has kept this for the day of My burial.\u00a0<sup><strong>8<\/strong>\u00a0<\/sup>For\u00a0the poor you have with you always, but Me you do not have always.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":true,"inline_featured_image":false},"class_list":["post-3824","sermon","type-sermon","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.8 -
